editing solutions for international students

Mobirise

you are not alone

I completely understand how difficult and frustrating it is for an international student to write in a second language. Things like tense, word flow, and section transitions can be hard to focus on when you are struggling with research and adapting to a new academic environment. Our service provides easy editing and proofreading help that focuses on non-english native speakers.

My name is Dr Turk Shoaib and I am an academic and professional that has been working in the built environment for more than 20 years. My first language is English, but more than that, I am bilingual and love writing. During my time in graduate school, both in the USA and the UK, I spent countless hours helping friends with their dissertations, journal articles, and presentations, in fields ranging from business and biology, to urban design and planning. Something I continue to do as I travel the world as a digital nomad and development consultant.

We created PROOF71 as a platform to help international students with their english writing needs. 71 is a reference to surpassing a FIRST or top grade at Uni, as we go one step further and help you do a hell of a lot better!

our services

After looking at all the complicated services available online, I wanted to provide a service that was simple, straightforward, and personal. I can provide you with the following:

CHOOSING WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU
EDITING VS PROOFING

Editing is for unfinished work that is still under development and is usually very hard for students. The language and grammar are usually rough but the ideas and research are there. If you need help with communicating a concept and general flow, this is right for you. Editing also includes ‘Comments’ where we critique the clarity and logic of your arguments and flow as well as adjust the language.

Proofing is for almost finished work that has few mistakes and is usually done before final submission as it’s always good to have a fresh pair of eyes look at your thesis or paper.

What we don’t do: We don’t write for you, so we can’t provide content or do research. We are here to help with getting the language right and help point out issues with early stages of writing.

proofing & editing prices

I base my pricing on the level of services needed, be it light, standard, or substantial editing or proofing. I always find that students tend to need more help in the beginning and end of sections and chapters with the sections in the middle a lot stronger. Therefore, on completion, I review the editing job and adjust pricing accordingly based on a 1,000 word block. As everything is track-changed this will be transparent and easy to follow.
The following tables summarise our pricing. Keep in mind that the daily maximum numbers are estimates and depend on our present workload. Everything will be agreed upon up front and in writing.

We are sorry, but we can’t accept work that needs more than 75% substantial editing, as content is usually very difficult to understand at this level. A decision will be based on reviewing a sample of the work and can be discussed.
